| Best Islands to Visit in Greece |

•Symi- this island is said to have the best neoclassical harbor. The entrance is a narrow harbor and the houses positioned on the hills look like an amphitheatre. When coasting in you has to catch your breath, and it’s inevitable to feel only Greece can give you this feeling. Money Saving Tip #6 Use Travelex.com to get the best rates on your currency (better than the Post Office!). •Mykonos- this has the reputation of being the best for parties. When the sunsets the sun makes the dull brown rock of the island light up like fools gold. The animated night spots are something to see. They say at night there is no livelier place in Greece, definitely a place you want to spend a few hours at least. •Santorini- the claim to fame here is they are said to have the best view. The ancient island of Thira exploded in 1500 BC leaving a broken rim of a now extinct volcano. On the top of the rim sits Fira, with a dangerous looking 250m drop to the very blue sea whose bed rapidly plummets to a depth of 350m. When you see it here you will understand why almost every postcard is shot her, the view and scenery is memorizing. •Farmakonisi- listed as the best uninhabited islands. When Julius Caesar was a child he was kidnapped and held hostage here for a year. This was not a good move and when he became older and became a general he crucified the entire population of this island. It has never really recovered, ferries don’t go there, and you will find some yacht to take you there but beware Julius had a lot of power. •Tilos- known for the amazing wildlife here, and we don’t mean the tourists. Early in the last century a travelling circus was shipwrecked off the uninhabited west coast of this island. Only two mountain goat made it a male and a female, one reason why goat is so popular in Greece. Okay that was made up but rumor has it many years ago there was quite the population of pygmy elephants. They also say there is more species of bird here than anywhere in the Mediterranean. •Gavdos - this is surely the best undiscovered island. It’s a great example here what Greek islands were like 40 years ago. It’s almost like the island Greece forgot. Frowned upon elsewhere sleeping on the beach is encouraged. The permanent population here is 40 people. Money Saving Tip #4 Build your custom holiday with Expedia.com not only enjoy the holiday of your dreams but save a fortune too! This is just a taste of some of the islands to visit. There is still over 144 of them not mentioned. Each and every one of them has their own flavor and distinction. If looking to find different ones to go to the internet can help you with that. As well you can talk to a travel agent who will be familiar with them and what they have to offer tourists. Keep in mind the optimal way to see these are to take a ship through them. Take your time and enjoy you Greece holiday to the islands.
