Greece Visa Requirements

With the summer time here there will be lots of travelling happening. The key to any holiday is to be prepared to avoid any disappointments. If travelling internationally it is recommended to look into whether you need a visa or not to travel to your chosen destination. This is quite simple to find out, and is better to find out before you travel. For instance if planning a Greek holiday then first do a quick check to see what the Greece Visa requirements are.

Many visitors coming to Greece will not need a visa if your stay is less than 90 days. Yet it’s best to check this out before hand and not to assume. Citizens of all other European countries, Canada, Australia, Japan and the United States are not required to obtain a vise to come to Greece. Yet with security arrangements changing all the time and the chance that visa requirements can change at any time as well best bet is to be safe rather than sorry and check ahead. If you find you do need to obtain a visa then you have the time to do this before your Greek holiday.

The following nations do require visa’s presently even for transit visits which continue on the same aircraft. These places are Angola, Bangladesh, and the Republic of the Congo, Ecuador, Eritea, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria and Turkey. This is a list current, things change all the time and it is recommended to check it out first to be sure. While on the subject of Visa’s some important information on your passport. Your U.S. or Canadian passport must be valid for a minimum of 3 months beyond the end of your projected stay in Greece. This is the case for many countries and it’s always recommended to never travel with less than 6 months left on your passport.

The following is Visa requirements for non U.S. citizens to enter Greece:

•Submitted passport with 3 months left past the extended stay

•Completed and signed visa application form

•1 recent passport type photo

•Completed cover page and credit card authorization forms

•Permanent resident card

•Evidence of health insurance valid for the Schengen States of at least 40,000 U.S.

•Hotel reservations or proof of group travel

•Destination in Greece

•Letter of reference from employer if applicable

•Original of above documents only

Let’s also take a look at the Schengen visa, which allows a person to temporarily enter the Schengen zone. This is the zone that refers to the area that encompasses the European states that are members of the Schengen agreement. This agreement is a set of international treaties that abolish physical borders among member states and effectively harmonize travel amongst the 24 states that are part of this agreement. If you have a visa to travel to one country in the Schengen zone, and have proof of booked travel, you can travel to any other country in the Schengen zone on the same visa.

So as much fun as travelling is it’s all about preparation to make sure you trip is worry free. Take the time before things are booked to make sure what travel documents you will need. You will save yourself a lot of time and anguish to do this ahead of time. It gook and generally takes little time to ensure you have the right documents, especially when done ahead of time. Save yourself the hassle, check and make sure, then book and enjoy the Greece holiday to the fullest.
